There's a lot of Asians who don't have slanted eyes. Some Chinese demographics have ancestry from the Middle East or Russia, and you likely couldn't tell that they were Chinese without being told.

A lot of autists/midwits don't grasp that while there are unique features exclusive to various ethnic groups, there are usually OTHER demographics within that ethnic group with different features. There are Indians who look more Asiatic, Arabic, or even European compared to the stereotypical idea of an Indian that most people have. There are Russians who look Asian. There are Mexicans who look African, Spanish, Native, Japanese, etc.

Read Scott McCloud. The Japanese don't draw themselves with specific ethnic features for the same reason that other ethnic groups (the French, Anglo-Americans, Mexicans, etc) don't. Not a single race prefers cartoons to generally have too-specific realism, mostly when it comes to faces. The more details on a face, the harder it is to identify with and project onto.

This is partly why the artist in pic related >>150983581 has a complex about Asian characters with slant eyes. A lot of Asian-Americans are culturally raised native in their households, but grow to become more culturally Anglo-American in school and at work. Despite Asian-Americans leaning hard into the "model minority" framework, they're constantly reminded by Anglos that they will never truly be accepted as "white". There's also the other matter of second generation Asian-Americans wanting to date white people but either get rejected, or fight with their family (who would rather have them marry an Asian who comes from wealth).

You should watch Bao or skim the Wikipedia article for Turning Red, it pretty much examples this.
