FSB agents pretending to be a confidential informant supplied realistic-looking documents and image fakes that tricked Hersh into parroting the Kremlin deceptions.

Russia has a massive propaganda network aimed at confusing the West with lies and conspiracy theories. The purpose is to demoralize and ultimately destabilize the US and other European nations. Rather than build up Russia, it is easier and more rewarding for Putin to tear the West down.

I get that Trump has trained millions of MAGAs to fall for the most blithering nonsense without the slightest scrutiny. To them, critical thinking must little more than a nuisance. But does it make any sense that the Russian Embassy would provide authentic and genuine historical documents to a novice member of Congress in charge of a conspiracy theory and thirsty for salacious details?
