Sword doesn't pay a gimmick tax because their gimmick is just having good value cards.
Rune doesn't pay a gimmick tax because the devs have no fucking idea what they are doing and decided spellboost and earthrite are both mechanics that should have zero cost associated with generating them but also the value of multiple pp.
That's why Rune has shit like this where the cost associated with generating 2 earthrite is completely refunded.
