So long as the total pure gold weight is the same, Krugerrands and Eagles are preferred for handling over Maples and Buffalos.

You can't really carry a Maple without a case. 24kt gold has tax advantages in some countries, ie, in Canada only pure gold and silver can be sold tax free so Eagles, Krugs, and Sovereigns have a 5% sales tax, whereas Buffalos, modern Britannias and Buffaloes do not. Doesn't matter whether they're sovereign mint or not, pure gold & silver = tax free.

I think AU and NZ have the same retarded policy. Sovereigns sold to coin shops get below melt and are sent to the refiner because nobody wants to pay the extra 5%.
