That could be fun, it's a different idea to the sort of thing that's happening here though - it's a character that's deliberately meant to go against the party and has a story reason for doing so and it's been planned with the DM.

In Chuck's case, he made a character that was a swamp-dwelling lizardman in a campaign he knew was about pirates where all the other characters were pirates and it was reasonably expected that your character, at a minimum, would be a pirate or open to becoming one.
