The writers of this game have no respect for the IP and they wrote it like it's a romcom mixed with a capeshit hollywood trashfire movie, because that's all they know, that's all they've read.
Inserting this type of child killing lore detail as a means of dabbing on a character is the reddit tier writing, there's no need for this type of joke in a game that takes itself seriously, alas this game does not, and you have people mocking it for not doing so.
