On one hand, you need to grind Operation Siren for the gear resources. On the other, events only require you to beat each stage one time (defeating all of the mob fleets, not just the minimum) to get 3-stars and unlock the next one.

Also, w9+ and D event stages now have an oil cap. We now grind 12-4 to get coins, and cog chips rather than coins are the limiting factor in leveling up ships.
