You underestimate how much money they are going to make from merchandise once they start pumping it out. There was this famous quote from George Lucas about star wars where the guy that made Space Balls first asked George for permission to make the movie and George gave him permission to make it but said you’re not allowed to make merchandise from it, reason being that’s where the real money is made.
