Not trying to say airpower isn't incredibly important, but its largely useless in actually defeating a force if you don't have capable boots on the ground to actually root out and destroy the opposition. See American, Saudi, Israeli bombing of Yemen.

Just look at Gaza. Israel has dropped more bombs on Gaza than the entire coalition used during all of Operation Iraqi Freedom and they have boots on the ground in a near totally sealed off enclave the size of Rhode Island and they still can't win because they don't have capable soldiers with the tactics and drive necessary to actually root out Hamas. Iraq and Iran did so that's why they won in Iraq.
