Whatever the knight is, it has Kris on its side for a purpose. as much as i hate the roaring fraud joke, and while the knight is seemingly holding back against us, it definitely didnt intend for us to get away with what we did.
Even Gaster says that defeat to the knight seems inevitable. The Knight wanted Toriel for something, it took Undyne for some kind of fucking "Sacrifice" Honestly im not sure how willingly Kris is even working with the thing at this point. I know they're not the nicest person in hometown but I doubt Kris would happily go along with sacrificing Undyne. I think the knight is keeping us all alive because it's trying to fulfill the prophecy, but i think things are more complicated than they're seeming. and I think Eram has its own goal that it doesnt need the Knight for.
