it looks like a garry's mod parody. you and the other trainer walk in circles doing nothing because the Pokemon is still using turn based battling and your position does not matter at all. You're in a 1v1 and it's just the same turn based formula with active time battle system.

Pokemon has finally worked its way up to ripping off FF4 instead of Dragon Quest when its competitors are boldly in the 3D era ripping off other 3D games like Ark.

What they should have done, and I hate doing this comparison, is treat it like Palworld, when you're in a battle- your Pals depend on you to be in proximity to be effective fighters. You shouldnt' be locked to just watch the fight happen, you should be able to do other things to affect the fight. Otherwise, it's just a turn based system, a really clunky one that looks like shit.
