I think the way soc-realism integrates with communist philosophy makes it even more exceptional. The only movement which was able to sync so well with the party were early italian fascists with futurism.

Yes, I did study Malevich. Sadly, he is unavoidable topic in art history and conversation about him will open a topic I don't want in 1AM. I was wanna say that Malevich in particular considered himself more an art theorist rather than an artist (much like how DaVinci considered himself a man of science who happened to know how to draw).
