when people are responsible for tangible items that aren't actually theirs, they tend to freak out. even I get a little touchy when I see people abusing laptops or saying they'll "return it later" just as an IT monkey

there's the cheap stuff that's essentially disposable but if it's a real Capital-A Asset, yeah it's not really *mine* but i have to be the one to make the report upwards that it's fucked up or destroyed, or worse lost entirely. What few times I've had to handle actual money (not cash, just money) is even worse
