My first bottle (AMYL) was super fresh and had all the popper effects they claim to be "similar to the 90s poppers" or something but I did sniff directly from the bottle initially, slightly uncapped - then sniff, capping it after over and over about 30-40 or more per sesh or when I notice reduced oxygen from paler fingernails. I do remember getting headache but that was more of a vasodilation thing and only happened few times. later I did sniff with bottle entirely uncapped after about third session but it was kinda too strong and may be harsh to lungs since it can turn to vapors and irritate the lung (I did get some bad stuff on my lungs and got x-ray it was fine but kinda painful on that side it subsided after about a month) - I would say don't fall for popper hero vids like I did - I was stupid and didn't know people don't use it as intensely. don't overinhale - they claim inhale 5 or 20 seconds, a 0.5 second sniff is just good enough as the effects last 1-4mins max either way.

no, I think poppers are as harsh if not harsher than rubbing alcohol I would say if you could then use goggles but the best is to use few mls glass pipette on crumpled virgin pulp paper (not dyed white cotton) inside a glass jar (can be a small one like yoghurt jar, it also is perfect as I can see the vapors on the transparent cap) - and don't let vapors on eyes (just to be safe) and wait longer before sniffing since a large droplet can be bad for lungs! I try to exhale into a crumpled cloth - this is since the exhaled gas tends to form other crazy stuff like ozone and no2 (so bad idea to regurgitate the gases, have proper airflow) I think doing this made my coughs less harsh and possibly the best practice.
also don't reuse old bottles/jars with the popper vapors exposed to sunlight as it may now have nasty gasses - I sniffed one for a final time I think it's what got me coughing a lot.
keep fresh and don't overdo.
