Comic book artists are notorious for struggling to draw things outside their confort zone. A lot of superhero comics cannot draw kids, for example.
Evan took her artistic skill and focused in drawing cartoon animals and got good at it, but she struggles drawing things outside it, that includes humans. At least her coloring is great, and her artwork of Maria and Gerald is passable enough to not raise eyebrows.
