The Protectrons are definitely Robbie the Robot, there's definitely a bit of overlap for the Robobrain design though.
They're definitely the same family tree of robot ancestry. The Assaultrons have a different lineage, but, same vibe at least.
I'm less sure about Mr. Handy, and Securitrons though.
