Anyone know good free Linux/Steam alternatives to Microsoft casual/card games like Solitaire and Mahjong and whatnot?
I built my Grammy a computer with DDR3-era parts and she loves playing Microshit's casual/card games. But when W10 goes EOL, it won't be able to run W11 so I'll have to switch it over to Mint or something. It also sickens me that she has to sit through unskippable ads just to play card games that have come free with Windows for 30 fucking years, while also having banner ads on every fucking side of the screen, which makes even the simplest of card games run like absolute dogshit. (This fills me with an indescribable rage that makes me want to strangle every single Jeet at Microsoft to death while wearing heavy rubber gloves.) I helped her make a Steam account so that she can run games through Proton when I switch her computer over.
I already got her some PopCap games like Bejeweled, which she loves.
Also, the setup I've pieced together for her is absolute mid-2000s kino. Black and silver HP monitor that was top of the line 15 years ago, black and silver keyboard, black and silver eMachines tower case with newer mobo and components, a wooden kitchen chair on an office chair base, a 30-year-old computer desk made of tubing and perforated steel; frankly, it came out so nice I'm quite proud (and a little jealous!) of the setup, and she loves it.
Also, she uses Discord to say good night to me and my cousin.
I love my Grammy so much it is unreal.
