I believe that Erginter did not want to kill her. Yat is one of the easiest letters to escape, and considering Rhucuphre's vengefulness and skills, Erginter likely would not have survived to challenge Xian if Rhucuphre held a grudge.

Another possibility is that Rhucuphre indeed held a grudge and schemed to have Xian to kill Erginter, in which case she is even more dangerous than previously thought, having 2 Outsider kills under her belt.
