Unironically the formula itself is not bad, as long as it was done well, the problem is all the elements that made that formula great has been greatly lacking

We spent a few chapters here and there exploring the new island but it's all surface level, ever since Dressrosa, we stopped learning the history of the islands and thus they simply became empty attractions
>Meet a Strong enemy
Again the strong enemy also used to have a strong and interesting personality, Kaido Was nothing but a Drunk brute with barely any history of him revealed to us. Big Mom had interesting backstory, but her present self was retarded (literally), Gorosei were just "SCARY" demon monster with barely any personality etc.

>Flashback to the past
They are hit and miss for me, the issue i have with current ones is that after the flashbacks we don't get a satisfying payoff to them, Kumas FB was amazing but the fact that not only him Hitting Saturn didn't really accomplish anything, but him actually surviving and even potentially having his mind restored renders his sacrifice mute( Essentially what happened to Might Guy), Pudding's flashback had 0 relevance to the story since she erased Sanjis mind, thus rendering his journey to the WC worthless

>Power up
case by case basis, but sadly as the time goes on the power ups all amount to just Oh now they can use "BETTER HAKI"

Unironically i have no problem with this in a vaccum, but a feast only works as a conclusion to a satisfying arc as a release of pressure, but since the story up to that point is shit than the release doesn't work
