All of this combines into a huge, critical problem - it presumes that people want to engage with a game long enough to understand what experience it's trying to convey, it presumes that people are interested by default. This isn't true, it's not something devs can rely on, and it's something that failed arcade games time and time again to the point where it has done irreparable cultural damage to the games & medium that fans are still trying to fix to this day. Something as simple as letting players credit feed has completely decimated the perception & legacy of these games, and they don't have an already existing army of fanboys to tell everyone that they're playing wrong and beat them down with peer pressure. The few of us trying to do that are slowly chipping away at broader cultural consensus.
