Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

What the spirit mechanics does is allow people with poor decks to now get better Umas who can reach A-A+. If you are someone without MLB Kitasan and SRs like Sweep, Eishin, Cafe, etc at like 2 LB, Aoharu is going to feel MUCH better for you as you can get better stats with explosions.

For people who have actual good decks and can consistently make A Umas, A+ if the run is good, S if it's REALLY good, an average run in Aoharu is not going to give you a better Uma even if the ceiling is now higher. While previously all you did was hit the training facility you want and hit rainbows with some races in between, you now need to instead go to spirit gauges which can divide the effectiveness of your strong deck. In addition, due to Aoharu now wanting Wit cards for energy, the effectiveness of your other SR Speed/Stam cards have dropped making the significance of Aoharu on an average run not that significant.
IF however you get a good run where friendship/spirit landed well on early/mid, while rainbows and spirits also land well on late/summer, you can get absolute monster Umas that are like 1200/1000/1200/400/600. This is however going to take a lot of runs, probably something like 1/30 will achieve this.
