This is just a repeat of Valve crashing the trading card market on purpose with first craftable cards and then the points store making them redundant entirely. Used to be you could sell an animu card set for like 20 bucks, now it's like 5 cents a card.

It's 100% on purpose, that's definitely Valve's way of telling everyone they've had enough of a market existing under their nose. The mystery is what the skins market did to piss them off, I know they were tired of ruskies gaming the trading market - but I thought all the skins gambling stuff blew over ages ago. Might've just taken a while for them to implement the crash.
