The big question is if the healthcare system in The US works for people in average? Today when we hear about the healthcare in The US its always these extreme cases that with all due respect, happens here in Europe also even tho its "free".
I know a lot of americans and I have family living in The US. Never have they had any negative things to say. They say what we all know, that it cost money, and that a process can be a pain in the ass because in some cases you are sent back and forth to all these different doctors and what not before you are done. That happens over here also, regardless if it is "free" or not.
A lot of the insurances go via subscriptions as far as I have heard, and in states like CA you cant rise insurance cost for underlying conditions either as far as I have heard. I have heard that this is not always the case in some states, but I know very little about how everything works overr there so I dont know.
I live in a country that is known for this "amazing" healthcare system. But I can assure you that it has massive amounts of flaws and it can be a pain in the ass too. In some cases it is just as good to have a private health insurance over here also (wich I have) in case something needs to be done very fast.
So the big question is if it works for most people in The US or if it is a pain in the ass regardless. And I am not talking about those with extreme cases where they dont want to work or buys an Escalade for 90k that they cant afford instead of having insurance. At the end of the day you are responsible for your own choises.
