she actually isn't. the story points out several times that she can be extra-ordinarily resilient, even heroic, but she is also a confused teenager who doesn't have full belief that what she's doing is the right thing.
this is why she tries to subscribe to yuko's half-witted ideology, with less than stellar results.
when push comes to shove, she shows herself be just as capable of dealing with physical pain and adverse circumstances as the devil inside her.
it's sort of a coming-of-age story for a "super hero".
