There is a lot of slop, for sure. With manga, you get a nice sprinkling of kino like some Dara-san of Reiwa, Centuria, or isekai Ojisan. There's plenty of other niche works that aren't super amazing, but they tickle a specific part of my 'tism that really pulls me in.
Anime suffers from seasonal slopiness, but there's plenty of classic series to get lost in and a few standout shows every season. I watched the original Lupin and Gundam series last year and really enjoyed them.
Of course, there are mountains of books to read and plenty of kino cinema if you're a cinephile like me.
