Lucy is right about most streamer subreddits being containment zones for people who hate the streamer. The people who enjoy the streams are the ones actively watching the them and are engaging in the chat and the Discord and such. Reddit is a place where antis who are too afraid of 4chan go to vent. Chuubas are lucky that most of their subreddits are just art dumps

Also to build off of what >>103666093 is saying about creating a fun environment, all of the big male flesh streamers have so much hate in their communities because they completely failed to cultivate them. Most of these guys started streaming almost two decades ago, both when they were kids and when streaming was still very niche and no one knew what they were doing. These guys were failures in the real world who stumbled into something that allowed them to have fun and sling slurs and make money doing it. They didn't really put the thought or the energy into shaping their community, whenever something bad happened or someone shat on them they would just go "Oh this is just how the Internet is, people are supposed to chase me around in multiplayer games and spam 'Niggerz Bop: Ducktales Theme Song' to try and get me banned and there's nothing I can do about it". That's why their communities have so much hate: They let it fester for so long that they're just numb to it.

An example of a streamer who did properly cultivate his community is Moonmoon. When he was transitioning from an Overwatch streamer to a variety streamer, he had to spend months banning people and berating people in his chat in order to discourage behaviors that he didn't like, while at the same time offering alternatives that his audience could latch on to, something that both them and him could enjoy instead of his chat just annoying him all the time. It took a lot of effort and he did lose viewers along the way, but his stream and his mental health are a lot better off. His community makes all kinds of memes and fanart and plays into jokes and he shows their creations off on stream and everyone laughs together, instead of just the chat laughing at him.

It makes me wish that more liggers would take the time to discourage behaviors they don't like and remove bad actors from their communities, instead of just letting a handful of spergs put everyone else down because they don't want to "be mean" by banning them
