>i'll play one more time on TLG (cont.)
it's a little shocking to pick up this game and just... every car works? at least half of them work right away. about half of those left have some immediately fixable issue like the chair is broken or the wheels are missing. there's fuel everywhere, all the gas stations have tons of it, and the cars are all full. with this much fuel, why even bother with solar panels when you can just run a generator.
I could swear that loot and vehicles were supposed to be scarcer than base cdda. but it feels like there's so much you'll never hunt or salvage.
By day two I got a truck with a freezer, a motorycle, found the refugee center, found a wood axe and... immediately almost died to a feral soldier. I don't know why i thought I could fight him, lol. I got away nearly bleeding to death. I really like motorcycles in cata. deathmobiles are very strong for sure, but a motorcycle is the best getaway vehicle.
It's also very fun to do driveby axe decapitations.
So I got badly mauled and now need to rest up, but I haven't figured out where I'll base. I couldn't really decide so I just closed the game for now.
Overall, compared to DDA, hm.
Well, the steep requirements to make chest armor are punishing in TLG. you need a lot of tools and specific apparel... honestly, you're better off killing police than crafting. I understand now why anon was dying a lot to guys like axe murderers - worm girl removed scrap armor so there really isn't anything that fits the early-game armor need. the closest is probably armored jean jacket, but that's not a recipe you can make without scavenging in specific places (drilling 2). And it's not going to stop an axe anyway.
I'm not exactly thrilled about cunning ferals and feral soldiers on day 1 next to my spawn point and next to neutral locations like a logging camp.
But I do like the jump scares. nearly pissed myself when i was suddenly surrounded by zombies in a church.
