Similar experience. Checked this general out in early 2022 and have perpetually kept a dedicated tab open for it since. Even the crankiest threads are generally so much more enjoyable than /v/.
And the best part? Board games are discussed largely in mechanical terms here. That means years of reading and discussing has made me fluent in the language of gameplay. Ergo, board games allow me to shitpost about video game in more technical terms, making my critiques about shit like Undertale soooooo much more biting.
