Are you being stupid and ignoring my point on purpose? To a normalfag. A NORMALFAG. Opening up the terminal is the equivalent of telling them to flip the switch on the flux sprocketer and channel the gumbloose so they can download Firefox. Telling them they need to learn "winget" or "pacman" or even the "-S" is already asking significantly too much of a normalfag. Then you're asking them to figure out the package name on their own, sometimes where it's not as simple as just typing "steam" or "firefox". They're not going to know they can query the package names let alone what to do with that information.

Googling "Steam" and seeing the giant "Install Steam" button on the official website they can trust gets them the .exe file they want. It doesn't matter if they see this shit behind Cnet or something that is clearly a scam, people have significantly more trust in those websites because they're presented as an official source with fancy visuals compared to something live Discover looking like this credit card scamming unofficial thing. They can trust the Microsoft Store because "Microsoft" is literally right there as a name they know.

I truly don't think either of you understand how a normalfag brain works because you are so in the weeds with Linux you can't understand why everything you listed was not only inconvenient, but potentially sketchy looking. If it was called "Mint Discover" or something that might convince some normalfags it's fine, but then you have stupid shit like "Dolphin" as the name for the file explorer instead of "File explorer" and all that on top of it.

You don't understand how normal people think, you understand how a tech savvy user thinks. My mother literally blanks when she sees buttons and options even though it tells you what the options literally say right underneath them. My father who has been using Windows since '95 for his day to day job barely knows how to use an internet browser let alone install Windows.
