Slavery can resist miscegenation. In Brazil we had a significant population of mixed race slaves, with some even considered white. The existence of white slaves was milked by the Brazilian abolitionist movement because it really convinced people that "it could be you". However, the unpopularity of slavery didn't prevent Brazil from being the last country in the western hemisphere to abolish it, so I don't think white slaves would necessarily threaten the southern elite.
