I'm not a fan of social media, but it's an option. You could join outdoorsy Facebook groups or something. Hanging out at a popular fishing spot in your area could also work. You might have opportunities to strike up casual conversations. The most important thing is to avoid coming off as desperate (this is much easier if you are attractive).
