The "number go up" argument is always predicated on the idea that nothing is more important than the fucking number going up. In this particular instance the "sacrifice" is our tax dollars and resources, and on top of that this particular guy has made it abundantly clear in the past that he views societal cohesion, culture, and even IQ as non issues that he would be happy to do away with in the pursuit of GDP.
