I don't like reference palettes, they make it feel like you didn't trust the audience enough to like your own characters, so you need to reference better ones from some other game. That, and they don't feel diagetix usually. Why does the Brazil flag exist in the Skullgirls universe if they're not on earth?
What's next, we're going to have Luke Skywalker yell out USA USA usa?
Thankfully, I'm far far above that.

The real reason the skullgirls is bad is not actually what a lot of people think it is. People say "A TOP PLAYER WHO WENT TO SUPER BATTLE OPERA DESIGNED THIS SYSTEM, BROS!" But still in one game does not always translate into knowledge of how to make your own enjoyable game. That's like saying every drone that performs in a concert or an orchestra would also be a good songwriter. The London philharmonic is full of talented guys, obviously. But they are what you would call working artists, not designers of their own music.
Anyway, school girls has the most Jewish system in existence. That is why it is so subversive. Mike Z quite literally created a shabbos goy battle system. He stated that hard knockdowns were bad and that set play was the antithesis of fighting games, so he created a system where soft knockdowns are far more common and very few characters can do hard knockdowns. But.. you can just circumvent the soft knockdowns anyway. You quite literally can just do a reset or a re-stand, and then avoid the hard not down altogether, then go for some guaranteed timing setup to do what is basically an HKD set up anyway. So then. How is this really any different than set play or I hard knock down at the end of the day?
It is exactly like how Jews will try to pretend to be devout, not using lights or opening doors on the Sabbath, and then they just get some black guy like Obama to open the door for them anyway. Yeah, you didn't technically turn the light on yourself, but at the end of the day, the light still got turned on for you. Don't act all high and mighty when you have to rely on your slaves to get your work done LMAO.
This is what Clayton would call a hypocritical game system.
Really, a lot of the western Indie fighting games have these kinds of issues. Retarded Ideas that sound good on paper. Things that look good on a Twitter clip, but are not actually fun to play against or to do. Things that you will not want to see after 10K matches.
