I finally read Holy Terror because of this thread.
It was messy, ugly and borderline nonsensical in that reactionary way that a lot of American media was post 9/11 but outside of some wife beater one-liners and one of the bad guys saying a few mild slurs it didn't seem any more offensive than your average 2000's action thriller. It was mostly just kind of sloppy like most 2000's Miller works.
I am going to assume that Absolute Batman is another confused overly violent mess but I refuse to read it just because I hated the first couple of issues.

This page is good. It kind of confused me when I read it though since not-Batman said the commissioner was working with the terrorists so I figured that was the Gordon stand-in.
