They all have different personalities, being quite smart but in general wild ones are shy and don't want to mess with humans. But if they see you as a threat (and its their forest you're in so w/e) then they might attack or threaten. If they attack then you'll be lucky to escape without serious injury.
Everyone is shit scared of male elephants when they get into musth (imagine the mating madness Ponn-Farr from Star Trek except it's an elephant with around 100x normal testosterone levels that thinks you're standing between it and getting laid).
