>“Probably around too many women, frankly.” You mutter. “My aunt is the Countess, and as such was the de facto head of the family. Besides her and my mother, there was also Kate. I don’t know if she was notable enough to make it into your book, but she was one of my father’s personal guard. A better pegasus knight than Blair if what I’ve heard is true. She taught me how to fight. Our ‘minister’ was also a woman. Her name was Corinne. Kate wished for me to pick up the spear, but it was Corinne that thought I should use an axe instead on account of my height and strength.”

You take a sip from your wine. You hadn’t thought about home in a long time. You were not the type to reminisce. You thought it was better to always be looking ahead. Towards the future you wished to build for yourself. In this moment though, you realize just how far away from the mountains of Rusalka you were. You wondered what everyone back home was doing. Hopefully they were well.

“I’ll be counting on you to become king and fully establish relations with Fodlan.” Cassius says with a smile. “I’d like to visit this Rusalka for myself one day.”

>“Hah, you can count on it. Still, what is it about Fodlan that fascinates you so much? You’re certainly an outlier amongst your kind.”

Cassius plays with his glass of wine, mulling your question. “Frankly, it’s the people.”

>“What do you mean?”

“Those larger than life characters. The ones that burst onto the scene and changed fate, despite the entire world being against them.” Cassius says. “Nemesis and his 10 Elites. King Loog. Edelgard. Archbishop Byleth. All larger than life characters that fought tooth and nail to change the world to fit their vision. With the exception of Xenophanes, these sorts of figures don’t exist in Morfis. Sure, there have been kings and queens that have instituted lasting change, but nothing in the realm of what your own Archbishop or Loog had done. Fodlan is a land of heroes. Where with sufficient strength and will, one can attain what they desire. It is a land that is constantly changing, never stagnant. Despite our own country’s advances in certain fields, I fear we cannot say the same. I suppose that is what drew me to your country, and continues to drive my desire to learn all that I can about it.”

>“Do you think I’m someone like that?”

“Absolutely.” Cassius affirms. “I’ve seen firsthand what you’ve accomplished in a short three months. If anyone can affect lasting change in this land, I believe it is you, my friend. I have never once regretted choosing to accompany you for a second.”
