Sensei is sleepless and looking at the ceiling, thinking over the Revelation, trumpets and angels, when someone knocks at the door. Sensei opens the door to find Maia standing in the rain, and asks her what happened. Maia asks to stay at sensei's place for a night, and promises him to not be a bother and be gone the next day. Sensei invites her to come inside, and at first let her washes her hands and face. When Maia insists she is fine, sensei takes the initiative to wash her swollen face. But then Maia tries to drink that water, so sensei immediately gives her a lot of actual drinks. Sensei thinks about enquiring what happened, but decides against it, and offers Maia his sleep bag. Maia initially refused and said she was fine with just a space blanket, but relents when sensei said he would sleep outside. Next sensei asks if Maia is hungry. Mais says no but her rumbling stomach betrays her, so sensei gives her one of the meal packs the Knights left behind. After she went though the pack, Maia asks sensei why he doesn't ask what happened. Sensei says the night is late, which Maia interprets as her fault for coming to him at such an hour, which prompts sensei to say it's no big deal. Maia says she will be gone before sensei wakes up, but sensei tells her she can stay and talk when she wants to. Hearing sensei's words, Maya cries again. Her tiredness catches up to her, and she quickly falls asleep, punctuated by the occasional whimpers as if she sees a sad dream.
