the new jag is literally the only ev that tries the long hood, and it did that very specifically to evoke the luxurious sedans of days long gone. it is not conservative, it revives something that's been dead for almost half a century, because with modern car and engine dimensions- large and small respectively- you couldn't justify a gigantic hood on anything bigger than a viper, you have to actually literally waste that space if you were to achieve these proportions. if it's an ev, you can have a big fuckoff hood for that old timey money gap between front wheel and door, and fill that entire space with batteries. aero be damned, you're filthy rich and lug around a literal ton of batteries, you couldn't care less about the local coal powerplant burning five more tons a year just because of you personally and your brick of a dickmobile. you got yourself an ev not because it's eco, you got it because it's large, opulent, expensive and goes like hell despite weighing in at five tons. you are a winner. you think big. and now for the first time in decades, you can get big.
at least, in a parallel reality where jaguar didn't use nine-o-clock afro gang to promote their 21st century duesenberg and nuked both their reputation and the reputation of the concept car.
