We have a representative democracy under a constitutional republic. It's really cool if it works alright and to the benefit of workers and consumers, the majority of voters. Politicians, I don't know if everyone in this thread understands, are imperfect in their knowledge and aren't experts in all fields. This is where "unelected bureaucrats" come in and they can be great for the country. Having to elect everyone and vote on everything slows down the process of fixing issues. Having a system of unelected experts for specific needs and projects makes sense.
