>I discovered that it’s still used by British English on Reddit. Like a decade ago (I’ve been here way too long, send help) I would see posts using “whilst” in their title and at first I genuinely thought it was just a feature of “le classy gentlesir” Reddit archetype and it actively annoyed me. I’m not kidding, I legitimately thought it was just a bunch of fedora tippers using slightly archaic words to appear more “distinguished” and “intellectual”. It wasn’t until I realized I was seeing it far too often for it to just be a subset of Reddit jargon that I looked it up and found that it’s still commonly used in British English. I felt like a dipshit lol.
