I still agree with chuds that the rainbow-colored fantasy aesthetic encroaching in games/tv was eyeroll-inducing, but it became extremely obvious where this shit was headed because chuds wouldn't fuck with ANY setting outside of Classical Antiquity->Medieval European->Western Great Power history or even nuanced versions of those things. And they'd always insist on racial caste systems and chattel slavery in medieval settings even when those things didn't originate until the 17th century.

And they freaked out that Cyberpunk--a genre with heavy themes of body modification, transhumanism, and sexual decadence--would dare include trannies. Like fucking what? Of fucking course that setting would at least give a nod to trans ideology. It's like being super into glam rock but then freaking out about how many fans and performers are gay.

Chuds are only care about setting authenticity insofar as it fits the model of history they developed in their middle school US history class. Which, as should be fucking obvious, only covered shit that was relevant to American history. That's why these ignoramuses assume chattel slavery is the only slave system that ever existed. That's why their conception of pre-American world history is weirdly white-washed; its fed through the lens of how those things influenced 18th century American liberal aristocrats (George Washington didn't even fucking realize Chinese didn't have a white complexion). That's why they view all colonial conflict with natives as some battle between primitive tribes and Western modernity (fits with US conquest of the western frontier, but not with earlier Spanish conquest of Central and South America).

If you imply that their entire conception of history and civilization essentially comes from "My First History Textbook" they get really irate about it.
