It was a "Miss M" in the manga so they just kept that and cleared the branding. The EF-M mount was very popular in Japan, and they just discontinued it in 2023 after 11 years. Sony's UI and price-point weren't probably as beginner friendly, but yeah I suppose if she didn't choose the camera on a whim she would've bought Sony a7r III or something back then.
