Quite. They're already consuming 50% less steel than before the war - in the middle of a war. Even defence companies aren't doing too well. A couple of months ago they let their only avionics company go bankrupt.
The MoD keeps underpaying its defence contractors who are only solvent because the Ministry of Finance forces banks to lend cheaply to them - which ultimately means higher interest rates for everyone else for banks to remain profitable - and so there's less lending -> less economic activity -> less tax revenue -> the MoD keeps underpaying defence contractors. And so we start again.
