That's why I consider the Level series to be one of Seto's last stories in which the heroine had any agency and wasn't just a plot device (until Guilty proves otherwise). Despite being a sex friend with the other guy, it was clear that the girl always had an interest in the MC of the story. Although we never got to see her inner thoughts, all the scenes in which she interacted with him made that clear, especially the final one in which she asks him to "help her" before the other guy completely claims her. She's obviously super aroused at the idea and a total slut, but it has double meaning here. Even with Seto's past stories, the girls all feel more alive than whatever the hell Chitose was. I'm hoping my half-hearted theory here >>8764238 >>8764249 has some weight. I just want anything to give the heroine some kind of sense of agency. If she's just going along with things and we never find out what the fuck is going on with her.. save for being a pushover, it's just fucking boring.
