So I don't know if this is a hot take or a tepid take, but I've tried out both melee and magic DPS and Black Mage feels like it's gotten the shaft. Not a single self heal when they can't wear armor, but Lancer can wear armor but also has like three ways to heal themselves before hitting level 30. Just giving black mage Physick would improve the class. Hell, make Physick a Role Action instead of job specific. If Physick doesn't fit the theme of the class, then maybe a DoT that heals the caster for a percentage of the damage dealt each time the spell 'ticks'. It wouldn't have to be a big burst heal, but it's something, which would be better than nothing.
