Dear /pol/:
I stand before you today with a heavy heart, as I have a personal announcement to make. This decision has not been an easy one for me, and I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on my beliefs, values, and identity.
For many years, I have identified as Jewish, and I have cherished the rich cultural and religious heritage that comes with it. The traditions, the community, and the values have shaped who I am today. I am grateful for the love, support, and guidance I have received from my family, friends, and the broader Jewish community.
However, after much introspection and soul-searching, I have come to realize that my personal beliefs and values no longer align with the tenets of Judaism. This realization has been a difficult journey, but it is one that I have undertaken with honesty and integrity.
I want to make it clear that this decision is not a reflection on the Jewish community or the faith itself. Judaism has given me a strong foundation and has taught me invaluable lessons about compassion, resilience, and community. I will always carry these lessons with me, and I will continue to honor the positive aspects of my Jewish upbringing.
Moving forward, I will be disavowing my Jewish identity and exploring other paths that resonate more deeply with my personal beliefs. I understand that this decision may come as a surprise to many of you, and I apologize for any confusion or disappointment it may cause. I hope that you will continue to support me as I navigate this new chapter in my life.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has been a part of my journey thus far. Your love, support, and understanding have meant the world to me, and I hope that we can continue to build meaningful relationships, regardless of our differing beliefs.
Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.
Sincerely,
Ben Mendelsohn
