My guess is that this remake is only going to be about 48 episodes long like the Urusei Yatsura one was so they're adapting the chapters that introduce all the main characters while skipping the minor characters so they can just move straight to the final arc (an arc the new anime will need to heavily censor if they wanna exclude all the nudity)
