I heard the excuse is that DDR is now needed for AI or some shit. As if the DDR5 and LPDDR5 used in system memory is the same stuff, made on the same machines as GDDR6, GDDR6X, GDDR7, GDDR7X used on GPUs or made on the same exact machines. No, the manufacturing capacity of DDR5 or LPDDR5 isn't something you can just flip a switch and turn into VRAM production over night. But yeah, I heard that DDR4 prices have gone absolutely fucking batshit insane.
