So I just finished this quest.
I'm kind of pissed off about it, because the game gave me no kind of indication that actually doing this quest would remove the slow burn damage accumulation that you get when you walk around the ground floor of the Sea of Flames area.
All that time I spent days ago exploring the Sea of Flames and carefully kiting enemies and managing my burn build up by periodically standing on higher ground felt wasted. Now that I've done this quest, the burn buildup is completely gone. I can walk around freely.
I could have had a much easier time exploring and finding chests and shit if only I did this quest first.
I also could have enjoyed a much more challenging Inferno Rider fight that had at least 4-5 extra moves that he previously didn't have when I farmed him for Chixia's ascension materials.
But of course, the game tells you none of this. It could have told you with a pop-up message saying that you should only come back here after finishing this quest.
It's the game giving me the finger for daring to try to explore this open world on my terms instead of doing it the exact linear way the game wants me to explore.
