This is the exact reason why she was killed off - to make room for new control who will complete the transformation as it would be hard & require loads of character development to turn tame & loving nayuta into a control freak.
I believe control's endgame is to regain all memories from her past lives. I don't see why would fujimoto pick up a plot of nayuta's curiocity about her past otherwise. That plot that seemingly went nowhere was a chekhov's gun that will fire at a festival
